The Progression
Gridiron has brought together the top 75 leagues from across the country to form one of the largest non contact football leagues in the nation. We’ve been able to work together to put in place a new football development model called the “The Progression”. The model is designed to introduce age-appropriate skills and differences in playstyle as they progress towards high school.
What's The Progression?
3 different play styles each designed to prepare your player for the next level. 5v5 Flag, 7v7 and FLEX.
5v5 Flag - All ages
This is for the first timers and beginners. Learning basic football fundamentals. Such as Catching, Throwing and Running with the Football. Offensive plays and defenses do not translate to tackle football.
7v7 - Ages 7-14 (16u, 14u, 12u, 10u, 8u divisions)
7v7 is the ultimate non contact passing league. Is your player a football fanatic? Mentally has a great understanding of offense and defense. 7v7 is a one hand touch passing league where WRs and QBs dive deep into true football passing concepts and work to get their timing right. It’s perfect for young players who are looking to play tackle football in the future. W
FLEX - Ages 9-16( 16u, 14u, 12u, 10u divisions)
No more splitting up your team into 7v7 and 5v5! Bring them all back together and build team chemistry with FLEX! It’s the holy grail of off-season training for tackle football players. This Semi-Contact play style is 9v9. It includes all the positions of tackle football besides the guards. Essentially it is 7v7 with 3 down linemen. Flex has everything tackle has to offer without the tackling. Players are allowed to JAM wide receivers and BLOCK each other. We DO NOT take players to the ground. You can bring the same playbook you use in tackle. This style of football was based and developed after how NFL teams practice during the season to keep their players from unnecessary injuries.
